The College of Arts and Sciences, Al-Shaqiqah, is one of the colleges affiliated with the University of Gharyan. Studies began there when it was initially just a series of classrooms, having branched off from the College of Arts and Sciences in the 2007/2008 academic year with a student body of 635. It continued teaching until it was officially recognized as an independent college by Council of Ministers Decree No. (107) of 2016. This decree established the "College of Arts and Sciences" in the Al-Shaqiqah area, to be affiliated with the University of Gharyan (formerly known as Western Mountain).
