The College of Arts and Sciences, Al-Shaqiqah, is one of the colleges affiliated with the University of Gharyan. Studies began there when it was initially just a series of classrooms, having branched off from the College of Arts and Sciences in the 2007/2008 academic year with a student body of 635.

It continued teaching until it was officially recognized as an independent college by Council of Ministers Decree No. (107) of 2016. This decree established the "College of Arts and Sciences" in the Al-Shaqiqah area, to be affiliated with the University of Gharyan (formerly known as Western Mountain).

A curriculum was approved to keep pace with modern scientific developments, and new classrooms were established for the college in the Al-Awiniyah area, named the "Al-Awiniyah Classrooms."

To achieve leadership, excellence, and innovation in the academic and university fields, to spread knowledge and serve the community through scientific research, and to contribute to the scientific, intellectual, and cultural development of Libyan society."

Excellence in the field of arts and sciences, preparing highly qualified graduates capable of competing in various fields of knowledge, contributing to the enrichment of scientific and cultural research, delivering scholarly output that meets the aspirations of society, and providing qualified competencies for work and contribution, specifically for the region and for Libya in general."

The College of Arts and Sciences, Al-Shaqiqah, is dedicated to offering a modern and comprehensive academic program designed to:

2. Create a research environment responsive to societal needs.
3. Emphasize the scientific aspect through practical skills training that aligns with modern advancements.
4. Foster collaboration with colleges and research centers.
5. Enhance students' academic and intellectual standing and cultivate their skills.
